fine artist/painter/Illustrator/creator
"Expressing the art of life" is the 'mission statement' of the artist known as mykulanjelo! The obvious takeoff on the hallowed name of Michelangelo is not simply for amusement. Today's mykul adheres to the same philosophy the Italian Master did: 'to connect to The Creator with the gift he was given'. He views his art as a part of the whole, a significant and essential element of all he is; an expression reflecting his wonder of life.
Mykul grew up with a wealth of artistic stimuli surrounding him as many a creative soul passed through his household while his parents 'ministered' life and hope to them. It was then that 'Michael' began to discover his new art I.D......'mykul'. Early studies of dinosaurs and 'snoopy' sent mykul into another creative realm, and revelations while 'doodling' in the margins of his Jr. high biology notebook brought mykul to realize he couldn't get enough of the act of creating. High school brought more requests for cartoons and illustrations, and mykul was energized and encouraged to pursue art more.
Eventually mykul attended the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, graduating in 1989......and "mykulanjelo" emerged! After a year out, his unique 'expressions' began to get noticed as he was commissioned to produce pieces for The Florentine Opera of Milwaukee. Within the next year mykul began Illustrating for various magazines, doing book covers, working with Art directors and designers, doing billboards and winning top honors with an 'Award of Merit' at The Uptown Art Fair in Minneapolis. mykulanjelo was now becoming a bonafied artist as galleries were seeking him out as well as patrons for commission work.
"My work is my worship" continues to be mykulanjelo's credo. This clearly explains why 'expressing the art of life' is mykul's purpose for painting, and why people have said his creations cannot be fully grasped in one viewing.
