How long have you been in business?
Over 30 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Transcription services. We specialize in legal, business, branding support, manufacturing support, academic research, police interrogation.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I've had a life-long interest in writing and reading. While I majored in philosophy (two Masters degrees), I also did graduate study in literary criticism and religions. Fascination with language has been my strong suit. I easily gravitated to listening to human stories from many parts of the English-speaking world. My original business adventure was "secretarial services" (we had the "only" computer in town, the Wang), and our service was to a fascinating variety of clients. As technology changed lives, we narrowed the focus, but not the ethic of the secretary, strictly confidential service.
Transcription is a physical and intellectual skill and is not the software package that may require the client to re-listen to the entire audio. We get it right the first time (or will do it over).
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I stayed downtown while my competition moved to the 'burbs. I believe in service to the entire metro area; and I do appreciate being close to so many downtown businesses, law firms, and nonprofits who seek transcription.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One. And we are located in the best city. This is all Internet-based now. Our space is adequate for the immediate future.

--The GreenLine stops at St. Paul and Water. Walk south one block to the Marshall Building. Elevator yourself to the 5th floor, turn right twice.
--Bicycle: BUBBLR BIKES serves with many locations. The closest is Public Market near that GreenLine bus stop.
--Car? Parking is generally available in the Third Ward. There is a loading zone in front of the building, one block south of Milwaukee Public Market.
--Intermodal station (rail, bus): is located 5 blocks west on St. Paul Avenue.
--Airport: use the GreenLine (see above).

What are your hours of operation?
By appointment. I am typically in the office afternoons and a bit into the evening. Appointment is always best. Just call. You may call at any hour of the day or night (voice mail will get a quick response when I'm available).
